Acumen is pleased to host its fourth Collaboration Summit in partnership with GE. Continuing our work on the Technical Assistance Initiative, started as a CGI Commitment in 2013 in partnership with Unilever, Coca-Cola and Barclays, Acumen has been able to test new models of accelerating the growth of social enterprises and discover new partnership opportunities between corporations and these enterprises in emerging markets. This event has yielded new partnerships and opportunities for engagement, including secondments and collaboration opportunities focused on product innovation, distribution, and capacity building. We are more convinced than ever of the potential for corporations and social enterprises to work together to build inclusive business models that drive growth.  Â

Beyond Dialogue: Building Sustainable and Inclusive Business Models in Partnership with Social Entrepreneurs
In partnership with the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, Acumen recently launched a new report that reveals the creative ways that corporations and social enterprises are partnering to build inclusive and sustainable business models, and solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. Entitled ‘Beyond Dialogue: Building Sustainable and Inclusive Business Models in Partnership with Social Entrepreneurs’, the report features case studies of Levi Strauss, EY, Microsoft and others that highlight the opportunities and risks of these unusual collaborations with innovative social enterprises.
We started Acumen to change the way the world tackles poverty; to influence traditional charity by moving from a top-down approach toward one that’s bottom-up: approaching low-income people as part of the solution, seeing investment as an important tool for change, and insisting on stronger metrics of accountability.
Please note reserving accommodation and transportation to and from Nairobi will be the responsibility of the participants. We encourage all participants to stay at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel where the Summit will take place.
